My 2019 in Books

With 2019 coming to an end, I took a look at my Goodreads summary to see what I’ve read this year! After sharing on Instagram I got lots of questions, so I thought I’d share about my 2019 in books in more detail here!

Most enjoyed: The Expanse series. I’m not typically a huge science fiction fan (but I love fantasy!) but I really, really enjoyed more or less inhaling the eight books of this series so far. Now I’m listening to the audiobooks! My one gripe is that it’s hard to connect the individual titles to what actually happens in the books!

Most impactful: Atomic Habits has really changed my thinking! I strongly recommend it if you’re into productivity and being more efficient.

Most thought-provoking: Educated has honestly haunted me. It’s the memoir of a woman who was raised in an extremist Fundamentalist Mormon family who denied her an education as a child and forced her to suffer through horrific child abuse.

Best Novel: Like almost everyone else this year, I read and loved Where the Crawdads Sing. It’s a beautifully told, affecting story.

Most fun: I listened to the To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before (of Netflix fame) series as audiobooks, and they’re just fun, light reads. They did make me a little nostalgic/angsty about my teen years though!

Least favorite: I listened to the first two Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children books and just wasn’t very taken with them. I usually love books about magical children, but the plots and dialogue just fell kinda flat for me.

What was the best book you read in 2019?
