Which Phonics Resources Are Right for Me?

Over the years I’ve designed A LOT of phonics materials! They all share certain qualities in common: no-frills, readable fonts, clear images, and easy-to-understand instructions. If you’re a brand new teacher and your school isn’t offering you any resources, you might need all of them! But maybe you need to supplement your existing materials or have some worksheets on hand for extra practice. Use this flow chart to figure out what phonics resources are right for you, and then keep scrolling for links to each resource!

Need everything? You’ll save the most by purchasing the Phonics by Design Curriculum + Centers by Design Mega-Bundle! It includes everything you need to teach phonics for the whole year AND four different kinds of centers (42 centers total!) to practice each phonics skill!

If you already have a curriculum, but no centers, the Centers by Design Bundle is perfect for you! It features 42 centers, including clip cards, file folder tasks, word sorts, and adapted books, all for over 40% off of buying the centers individually.

If you’re looking for a phonics curriculum that includes everything you need to teach phonics for the whole year, I’ve got you covered with the Phonics by Design Level I Curriculum. It includes 37 weeks of lesson plans, posters, picture cards, activities, assessments, and independent practice. If your students are more advanced and have already mastered most one-syllable words, check out the Phonics by Design Level II Curriculum, which covers phonics skills such as inflectional endings, two syllable words, and affixes.

If you already have a phonics curriculum, but need some no prep independent practice for homework, early finishers, or intervention, go for the No Prep Phonics Worksheets Bundle, which includes over 400 pages of worksheets and no prep phonics word work! Or, if you’re looking for something digital (great for teaching remotely!), snag the Digital Phonics Practice for Google Classroom™.
