5 Ideas to Show Teacher Appreciation

Teacher Appreciation Day and Teacher Appreciation Week are great times to show you care, but teachers work tirelessly all year long! These teacher appreciation ideas are perfect for any part of the school year.

1. Volunteer. Show your appreciation by getting involved! Whether it’s as a room parent or field trip chaperone, teachers truly appreciate the extra help. If you’re not available during the school day, try asking if your child’s teacher needs any prep work done, letting cutting, copying, or stapling.

2. Create a display with personalized messages for teachers. It’s always nice to get a note of appreciation, and a public shout-out is even nicer! I used this Candy Hearts Bulletin Board Kit to create a display at my kids’ school for their teachers for Valentine’s Day. Ask parents to submit a short and sweet message for their kids’ teacher(s) and then add them to the hearts before printing.

3. Donate supplies. While you might bring in supplies at the beginning of the year, teachers end up self-funding lots of items in their classrooms. Ask your teachers if there’s anything you can pick up for them, like tissues, pencils, or even copy paper.

4. Give a gift card. A thoughtful gift is great, but it can be tricky if you don’t know the teacher very well personally. You know a gift card to somewhere like Target or Starbucks will always be appreciated!

5. Write an appreciative email or card. A little positive affirmation goes a long way! If you’re writing an email, copying the principal is a great way to make sure administration knows you think the teacher is doing a great job!

These ideas are sure to make your child’s teacher feel loved and appreciated!
